Christmas Markets 2019

The holiday season is here, which means Christmas markets are right around the corner! A lovely opportunity to complete your Christmas shopping, London's spectacular variety of markets offer something for everyone, so come out this winter and give the markets a little love while warming your chilled fingers on a delicious cup of mulled wine.

Biggest Christmas Markets

Southbank Centre Christmas Market 8 Nov 2019 - 5 Jan 2020

Part of Southbank’s colossal series of winter events, the Southbank Christmas Market will provide an astonishing number of food vendors, an enticing array of twinkling lights, and enough mulled wine for an Olympic swimming pool from November to January. Applebee’s, Bar Under the Bridge, The Circus Bar and Jimmy’s Lodge will offer Cornish flavours, alpine-style lodges, fire pits and private igloos to sustain you on your perilous trek through the wilderness of Christmas cheer. The market’s location on the banks of the River Thames will provide countless photo-op moments, and the countless seasonal wares will be perfect for stocking stuffers and thoughtful Christmas gifts.

Perhaps one of the most highly-anticipated Christmas events in London, Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland will commence by the end of November. Full of activities such as ice skating, Santa Land and an abundance of rides and games, attendees must not forget to look around the fantastic Christmas market! Including over one hundred charming traditional wooden chalets, the Christmas market will entice you to stay a bit longer than you intended while offering countless gifts for your loved ones. From Christmas decorations to jewelry, crafts and accessories, this Christmas market is a sight to behold.

The already popular Greenwich Market will be open late every Wednesday in December for Christmas celebrations. Shop for family and friends--and yourself of course!--while perusing the many booths of leather work, design, candles, jewelry, prints and so much more. Starting December 4, shop ‘til you drop (or until 8:00pm) amidst Christmas lights, scents of cinnamon and the sound of silvery jingle bells. The sheer variety of goods available ensures that there will be something for everyone, and feel free to take advantage of the street food stalls and hot drinks along the way!

Sustainable Christmas Markets

With an exciting variety of workshops, brands and demonstrations, pebblefestive returns on 30 November for a day of holiday cheer! Besides shopping responsibly for friends and family, ticket holders will be able to attend free workshops and talks in the O'Meara Theatre on topics such as reducing Christmas food waste, positive advertising and climate change. There is even a vegan and organic beer tasting with Freedom Brewery to teach about sustainable drinking while letting you sneak a sip or two. Look for brands such as Acala, Stellen, Compare Ethics and Origin Africa while you search for sustainable and beautiful gifts for loved ones this Christmas.

1 Dec 2019

Buyagift will host their very first sustainable Christmas market on the first of December in Clapton, East London, in an effort to reduce waste and pollution this holiday season. Brands including Upcircle, Buff Natural Bodycare, Sunday and Greater Goods will be proudly in attendance, and free workshops, manicures and massages will be offered to attendees as they navigate the cheery stalls. A sustainable gift-wrap station will be available to individuals who wish to wrap their gifts with environmentally-friendly materials. It’s also BYOC (bring your own container) for food and drink at this market, so remember to grab a tupperware and thermos on your way out the door!

Twice a big as last year’s first Zero Waste Christmas Market, this shopping experience will offer a sustainable approach to gift-giving. For one day only, this market will be held in The Boiler Room on Brick Lane and will host over fifty unique zero waste brands, zero plastic packaging and wrapping, workshops, seminars, a zero waste gift wrapping station and so much more! Bring your own food and drink containers to enjoy some fantastic festival food, and look out for that perfect and guilt-free gift for your special someone. Look out for more news about this market during the coming weeks, and remember to buy tickets online.

Charity Christmas Markets

12 - 13 Nov 2019

If you want to do some good while shopping for your friends, come to the Royal Trinity Hospice Christmas Fair hosted by St Luke’s Church in November. More than forty stallholders will sell jewelry, ornaments, books, beauty products and much more in support of these amazing people, and the fair also includes a silent auction and a tree of giving selling prizes from £5 upwards. Tickets for the market can be bought online or at the door, so come out for a few hours of charitable shopping among cheery stalls and holiday fun!

25 - 26 Nov 2019

Support the Red Cross this Christmas by shopping at the Guildhall Christmas Market this November. Full to the brim of food and wares, over one hundred stalls will be available for your careful examination. If it gets a bit chilly, head inside for afternoon tea in the beautiful Guildhall crypt, and top designers will showcase their clothes at our fashion show later that evening. Show your love for Red Cross this year by showing up in the City, and remember to buy your tickets online while they last.

Eclectic Christmas Markets

23 - 24 Nov 2019

Crafty Fox Christmas Market will host a collection of special events and vendors for a packed weekend this November. Held in the beautiful 'Downstairs at the Department Store' part of the Squire & Partners Architecture Practice, talented traders will have a different line-up each day and a spectacular array of wares to please even the Grinch of the family. Viktorija Semjonova will also be on site to paint visitors’ portraits in pencil and watercolour, and several crafty workshops will be available to boost your creative energy and teach you to make lovely gifts for friends and family. Buy tickets for these events online, or just show up for the market!

30 Nov 2019

Bring your fur babies to St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Covent Garden, this November for a holiday treat they won’t forget! Over twenty-five independent UK pet businesses will be selling their products at this pet palooza, among them Scrumbles, Oonalfie and Distinguished Dog Company. A ‘Best Little Helper’ competition will be held on the day for the hosts’ favourite festive photo, and a raffle promises great rewards. All dogs are more than welcome but must be kept on leads throughout the market, so bring your fuzzy best friend and come out in your holiday best for this fantastic event.

Dec 2019

Every December, Columbia Road’s famous flower market gets a holiday makeover and offers a stunning Christmas market each Wednesday. More than sixty independent shops will have their wares on display, and they will be selling items ranging from books and homewares to perfume and fashion goods. Caroling will also be prominent at these events, so be sure to tune your voice and your ears for the occasion. Perhaps most importantly, look out for local vicar Adam Atkinson, who is famously wheeled down the street on a piano singing carols every year.
