October half term, school is off: what do I do with the kids?

Most museums offer special events for familes during half term, in addition to their permanet collections. Not to be missed: Science Museum, the Samsung Digital Discovery Centre at the British Museum and the London Transport Museum.



Royal Albert Hall


Many events for children during half term:  interactive music workshops, relaxed family screening as part of the festival of films,  storytelling singalong and jazz for kids. Buggies, babies and budding musicians all welcome!






Bank of England Museum

The museum invites younger visitors to get creative this October half term as part of the nation’s “Big Draw” festival.

Climb aboard the boat in the museum Stock Office for inspiration and design a boat fit to sail the seven seas.

Admission is free and there is no need to book in advance.





V&A Museum of Childhood


Party like a Pirate! Visit the Museum, dressed up and ready for the unmissable week all about pirates! See a pop-up performance or join fun, pirate-themed workshops.








Discover Children's Story Centre
A place where children and their families can enjoy playing, learning and making up stories together. Enjoy the exhibition "A World Inside a Book: Gruffalos, Dragons and Other Creatures" or enter Story World, the fantastic world of stories. Storytelling sessions during October half term.
Chocolate Museum
Chocolate truffle making workshop: let your children learn how to make their own chocolates. It's fun and delicious! Your children can have fun while learning how to make chocolate lollipops, and truffles, tempering and shaping their chocolates by hand.



KidZania is an indoor city, run by kids! Designed for children aged 4-14, it blends learning and reality with entertainment.
During your 4-hour experience, children can independently choose from a number of real-life activities and test their skills in a variety of professions. Activities range from Doctor, Dentist, and Police Officer to Firefighter, Actor and Dancer.






A family event for children aged 12 and under and their parents It’s packed full of live shows, your children’s favourite characters, much loved brands, exciting entertainment and a host of amazing activities Tickets for Kidtropolis are valid for 4 hours. You can choose either a morning session from 9.30am-1.30pm or an afternoon session from 2.30pm to 6.30pm.
