1 - 30 September

A vibrant programme of river-inspired art, live performances, archaeology walks, boat races and more. This year’s 150 events fall under three main themes: the river Thames’ rich history, the 300th anniversary of Handel’s Water Music, and the issue of plastic pollution in rivers and oceans.

until 28 October

An honest portrait of scientific discovery - the setbacks, the happy accidents, the slow incremental progress and the big leaps forward. The exhibition spans over a century of scientific discovery and includes rough drawings, raw experimental data, newspaper clippings, letters of correspondence, animations, physical models, microscopy images and medical equipment.


3rd September

A cultural festival inspired by South Asia, which hosts a wide variety of activities for the whole family. It features the best in classical music, urban artists, dance, comedy and cabaret, Asian-influenced street theatre and circus, and exhibitions. And with a third of the audience from non-Asian communities, it is a truly inter-cultural family event.

A Night In New Orleans with Mississippi Swamp Dogs at Café in the Crypt (St. Martins in the Fields)

8th September

Mississippi Swamp Dogs presents “A Night In New Orleans,” a celebration of the rich variety of music from the Crescent City. If you love the music of Fats Domino, the Neville Brothers, Dr John, Louis Prima, Professor Longhair, and the great Louis Armstrong, you’ll go crazy for this band.

16 - 17 September

Visit iconic buildings, join expert tours and discover great architecture across the capital. For one weekend in September hundreds of great buildings of all types and periods open their doors to all, completely for free.

16 - 24 September

The London Design Festival is an annual event, held to celebrate and promote London as the design capital of the world and as the gateway to the international creative community. The Festival programme is made up of over 400 events and exhibitions staged by hundreds of Partner organisations across the design spectrum and from around the world.

23rd September

An unmissable all-Beethoven concert culminates with the monumental ‘Choral Symphony’ with its climactic Ode to Joy.

24th September

London’s very own and much loved festival of Japanese culture. There is plenty to see all day: taiko drumming, martial arts, delicious Japanese festival food, family activities area with traditional Japanese games and opportunities to learn origami and Japanese calligraphy or dress up in traditional Japanese costumes.

Dressed in their best dark suits covered in hundreds of bright pearl buttons, the Pearly Kings and Queens of London are a charming and unforgettable sight. They celebrate the bounty of the autumn harvest with traditional entertainment in front of Guildhall from 1pm, before parading through the streets to St Mary Le Bow Church for a service of thanksgiving.

The classic story of the trailblazing Jane is as inspiring as ever. This bold and dynamic production uncovers one woman’s fight for freedom and fulfilment on her own terms. Jane Eyre’s spirited heroine faces life’s obstacles head-on, surviving poverty, injustice and the discovery of bitter betrayal before taking the ultimate decision to follow her heart.

8-9-10 September

A food festival inside Ludlow Castle with more than 180 local food and drink producers and suppliers: real food, ale, cider, perry, wine and more from the Marches, with samples and tastings.

17th September

Teams of six runners, each run a 1.6 mile course in relay format following the unique and picturesque route starting and finishing at Queens' Green and covering the city centre, Trinity College, Clare College, King's College and crossing the River Cam. Sponsorship for this year’s race will help Alzheimer’s Research UK power a pioneering brain imaging project at the University of Cambridge.
