FOCUS Favourites - August

August is here and for many it means holiday. But not for everyone! So if you are in London this month, here are

FOCUS Favourites for August.

4-5-6 August

Celebrating modern beer culture, with over 45 breweries supplying several beers to taste, with no limits! Many fantastic restaurants will cater the event with delicious food and to bring together the true festival atmosphere, musical acts will also be performing on all days.

From 16 July until 24 Sepember

A showcase of Reggae heritage in Brixton, London’s cultural mecca. Experience some of the best reggae from the likes of Channel One, Trojan, Reggae Roast, and more. Delicious street food and drinks to ensure an entertaining Sunday.

31st July - 27th August

Bringing together comedy, theatre, poetry, dance and much more, the Camden Fringe boasts over 250 different productions and (some very odd) shows across 25 venues in north London borough throughout August.

5th August-12th November

A rare glimpse into the artist’s personal collection, as well as the paintings, sculptures and drawings it inspired. Seen together, they reveal how Matisse’s masterful vision of rich and masterful energy first stemmed from the collage of patterns and rhythms which he found in the world of objects.


Until 1st October

Located right by the Thames is the 255 metre long zip line, which will give you a birds eye view of the city centre and sites including Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.

The Great Gatsby 1 June - 10 September

This production will immerse you into the roaring 20’s and Gatsby’s world, and if you love to dance this is the perfect opportunity to bring out your dancing shoes. 18+

28 July - 29 October

Travel back to Roman London with Londinium: a season celebrating the City of London’s Roman heritage with gladiator games, 3D animated projections, talks by leading historians including Mary Beard, outdoor films and archaeological tours in historic London sites. We reccommend: Gladiator Games at Guildhall Yard 25-28 August

Until 22 October

A sonorous and sensitively curated group show dedicated to African American artists, and the work they produced in the turbulent period between 1963 and 1983. This landmark exhibition is a rare opportunity to see era-defining artworks that changed the face of art in America.


22 August – 3 September

Become a part of this giant, colourful artwork and discover its cogs to turn, levers to pull and pendulums to swing. Kristi Minchin’s interactive installation will thrill children and adults alike.

This exhibition will invite you into the world of Spanish designer Cristobal Balenciaga and you will see over 100 works by the influential designer but also the future of the brand and how it has evolved.

BBC Countryfile Live at Blenheim Palace (Oxfordshire)

3 -6 August


A four day countryside extravaganza: BBC Countryfile Live returns to the beautiful grounds of Blenheim Palace with live arena shows, hands on activities, animal displays, debates, food, drink and shopping.








Shrewsbury Flower Show (Shropshire)

11 -12 August


The Shrewsbury Flower Show is one of the longest running shows in England. The millions of blooms compete with the spectacular fireworks displays. Celebrity gardeners meet celebrity chefs, and an arena full of entertainment makes it two very special days of celebrations.







Bristol International balloon Fiesta 10 -13 August

Europe's largest hot air balloon event, the fiesta includes morning and evening balloon lifts and two nightglow events.

Family entertainment on site includes fairground rides, food stalls and bars, face painting, acoustic music areas and air displays.






Castle Howard Proms Spectacular ( Yorkshire)

19th August


This spectacular classical concert will be a night to remember for the whole family. The programme will include popular classics, songs from musicals and Proms favourites, all of which will create a magical evening of music which concludes with a stunning laser and firework finale.

International Beetleweek at the Cavern Club (Liverpool)

23 -29 August

The Cavern Club invites thousands of Beatles fans to Liverpool for Beatleweek every year. There are seven days of performances, musical tributes, conferences and conventions to attend, giving you the chance to celebrate everything you ever loved about the Fab Four.
