FOCUS Favourites - July
Every day London presents us with a huge list of opportunities to have fun, learn, meet people, watch sports events, entertain the family, eat great food and enjoy ourselves.
Here is a list of FOCUS suggestions for the month of July.
Art Night 1st July
Free contemporary arts festival that puts art into extraordinary locations around London for one night a year, encouraging the public to experience art and their city through entirely fresh eyes.
Sundays 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd July
Regent Street becomes traffic free for a day of themed activities and experiences for shoppers. Themes of arts and culture, music, fashion and the much-loved Garden Party, with talks, pop-ups, shows and offers from shops, restaurants and bars.
Wimbledon Screens
3rd - 16th July
If you can’t get tickets to Centre Court, or don’t want to queue, there are several places where you can see all the live tennis action on the big screen. (each location is linked to its website)
Summer Science Exhibition Royal Society 4 July - 9 July
Free, week long festival celebrating the cutting edge of UK science. Activities programme features everything from rocket science and science cocktails to robots and zombies.
Gloria! Royal Albert Hall 9 July 2017
The Really Big Chorus returns to the Royal Albert Hall with Gloria! – a joyful choral extravaganza with works by Antonio Vivaldi, John Rutter and Karl Jenkins.
14 – 16 July
Immerse yourself in dance performances, kimono styling, kitsch jewellery, a sake taste off and a sushi rolling competition. Whether you're into the food, anime or just a fan of Japanese culture, this one is right up your street.
Whales: Beneath the surface Natural History Museum Opens 14 July
Explore whales, dolphins and porpoises' extraordinary adaptations to their underwater environments, and learn how they are similar to us. See how whales became sociable, aquatic mammals, some of which can communicate over vast distances.
World Para Athletics Championships 14 – 23 July
The Championships offer a wide range of competitions and events. Athletes compete according to their functional classification in each event, some in wheelchairs and some with prostheses, while those who are visually impaired receive guidance from a sighted guide.
Camden Beach Roundhouse, Chalk Farm Road 15th July to 28th August
The Caribbean comes to London with a beach, BBQ and a big screen. They've got everything associated with a beach holiday - sand, pop-up restaurants, bars, deckchairs, beach huts, beach games and cocktails.
Luna cinema (open air cinema) June to September
Classic films under the stars in incredible settings. Many different venues, including Kensington Gardens, Alexandra Palace, Greenwich Park, Kew Gardens, Victoria Embankment Gardens and Westminster Abbey.
